In 1926 Heyrovský became the first professor of physical chemistry at Charles University. He introduced a several term - course of lectures and practical classes of that subject and with his research students he continued the development of polarographic method.
In order to make the results of work of Czech and Slovak chemists accessible to international scientific public he founded with his friend Emil Votoček, professor of chemistry at the Prague Technical University, the journal Collection of Czechoslovak Chemical Communications, which since then has been publishing original papers in English.
Each of Heyrovský´s students, Czech or foreign, has enriched in his/her way the polarographic method by some fundamental contribution. Especially Dionýs Ilkovič, later leading Slovak physicist, and Rudolf Brdička, later professor of physical chemistry after Heyrovský, helped to put polarography on exact theoretical foundations.
